Just ripped a pair of pants open. Not without a plan though..
The pants is a find from a flea market. I'm going to use it to make small purses and bags. Because it's second hand it's worn and washed, this means soft and no shrinkage.
This gives me large and nice pieces of fabric to use for whatever I want. The fabric has some wear marks, but they are not to hard for me to work around.
As any other pair of pants, it comes with a zipper, this I can use later.
The back pockets are also something to save for later. They will be part of some project, if it's a bag or maybe something for the home, that is something I need to think about.
My plan for the ripped pants is to make several small bags, purses, pouches and other synonyms for small thing to put things in.
Indigo dyed fabrics are used to do sashikoembroidery on. Sashiko is a Japanese embroidery technique using simple running stitches to make geometrical patterns. This fabric I have is a simple cotton and it's dyed in a indigo type of colour. I will decorate the fabric with sashikopatterns and hope it will be as nice as I imagine it will be. This needs further investigation and I need to do some tests. To be continued..
I love second hand. Making use of something someone else have thrown out is meaningful and a little help in the fight for the earth we step on. Why not use second hand when you can, in stead of always buying new. The small things do matter.
